Asmat tribes

Asmat tribes is a tribes in Papua. Asmat wellknown with unique wood carving. Asmat population is divided into two groups, namely Asmat who lives in coast and Asmat who lives in hinterland. These two populations is different in dialect, life style, social structures and rituals. Asmat coast population is also divided into two groups, namely Bisman tribes who lives between Sinesty river and Nin river, and also Simai tribes.

Nowadays, around 100 up to 1000 people lives in a village. Each village has one Bujang house and many houses for family. Bujang house is used for custom ceremonies and religious ceremonies. House of family inhabited by two or more family, it has bathroom and kithchen. Today, about 70.000 Asmat lives in Indonesia, and nowadays mayority of Asmat has been being school and get the same education like other people in formal or in informal institutions.
